Aspects of Diversity
Organisations are under increasing pressure to ensure that they are not discriminating against any members of society either deliberately or by omission. Race - to consider the aspects of unlawful discrimination, victimisation, harassment, Equal Pay, cultural/ religious awareness and ethnicity the CRE have produced a fact sheet as have Race for Opportunity ‘Fact Sheet Legislation.’ The issue of understanding English language has been raised, particularly in relation to migrant workers.
Positive Action - is a way of addressing under-representation in your workforce within the law. In the South West of Britain, Ceed is a charitable community organisation which can recruitment and manage positive action training in your organisation In the West Midland Path West Midlands and Diverse City Services have had tremendous success in addressing ethnic under-representation in its region. Their processes are comprehensive, with systems of support throughout. Gender - to consider aspects of sexual harassment, equal pay, pregnancy and maternity, parental leave, relationships at work, sexual orientation and housing. www.eoc.org.uk
